Carisa Champion

championCarisa Champion is a law clerk with the firm and a sixth-year osteopathic medical student and masters of public health candidate at the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

An advocate for osteopathic medical students, Ms. Champion is the past national chair of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine’s Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents. Currently she serves as chair of the AOA Council of Student Affairs and as the student member of the AOA Brand Awareness Campaign Task Force.

In 2008, Ms. Champion served a White House internship working with staff in the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services, and the Office of Presidential Personnel. She went on to serve as a student member of the AOA’s Bureau of State Government Affairs and as national director of Omega Beta Iota National Osteopathic Political Action Honor Society, where she helped advocate to repeal the Medicare sustainable growth rate and increase graduate medical educaiton funding.

The inaugural student in the DO/JD dual pilot program at NSU-COM, she received her juris doctorate in May 2015. She was named NSU-COM Osteopathic Medical Student of the Year in 2013, Overall NSU Student of the Year in 2014 and the recipient of the AOA Presidential Memorial Leadershp award in 2013.
